GeoVisions-4cprocess

The fee you pay to teach in Italy goes to our 501(c)(3) non-profit company, The GeoVisions Foundation.  The program donation for this experience covers our costs of local screening of potential host schools in Italy; assisting you with the process of compiling the documents you will need to collect for a guaranteed job and the correct visa; and assistance in Italy during your entire stay to make sure what you have agreed to is what really happens. This provides you a great deal of security and a social base to grow and enjoy your time in Thailand. If you are from the US, the fee also includes your travel and medical insurance. The program donation includes your 130-hour TEFL course.

We provide 24/7 emergency service, manned by real people.  You are supported from the moment you contact us to the time you return … and beyond, through our active Alumni Community. Be sure to speak to your tax preparer to see if any of these fees (and even moving costs) can be deducted as a charitable donation.

Paid Teacher Program

100% guaranteed teaching placement after approval of your application.

You are in touch with our job guidance and placement team even before you depart for Italy.  They go over all of the current openings in Italy.  During the TEFL course, Skype and local interviews are scheduled.  That way, upon completion of the TEFL certificate, the on site employment begins from 1 to 4 weeks following the course.

Examples of teaching jobs in Italy include independent language schools, chain school providers, private K-12 schools, and multi-lingual learning centers to name only a few.  Talk to the Job Guidance and Placement team about the benefits of each type of job. The team will work hard to secure your top choices and note this for your arrival in Florence.

Naturally, assignments in the proximity of Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, and Lazio are quick, while more distant destinations require an extra week or two. A Job Mentor is assigned to you during your month in Florence. They personally oversee your job placement and progress during the TEFL course.

Orientation is included during your 130-hour TEFL course, and is ongoing for the month of the TEFL course.

That’s a minimum of $1,050 US per month for 20-25 hours a week of teaching.  Pick up some outside tutoring and the salary can go up.  That means your out of pocket expenses to get to Italy, the GeoVisions fee and your living expenses during your TEFL course are paid for soon.  At the very least, at the end of your time in Italy, you will have traveled there and back again and lived the entire time for free.  It’s possible to come home with money, based on your lifestyle.

Are flights included and booked for me?

No, flights are not included in the fee, and you are responsible for arranging your own flights/transportation to Italy.

Can I apply with a friend or spouse?

One question we often get is whether it is possible to teach in Italy with a friend, family member or significant other. The answer is absolutely! Finding placement for two or more people in the same job or area makes the task of job placement more challenging and tends to narrow the placement options, however, if you are open-minded to location and age group, and do not have narrow preferences, we have a very successful track record of placing friends and family if not at the same job, then certainly in the same town.

If agreed upon at the outset, partners, spouses and children can come with you. Basically this is done when 2 of you are teaching at the same school or nearby schools. If this is not agreed upon before you leave your home country, the answer is no.

How will I get from TEFL in Florence to my placement?

We will help you arrange your transportation and travel plans by bus, plane or train to your placement. Participants pay for the actual transportation.

Is housing included?

As a teacher earning money in Italy, you will pay your rent each month as you would in your home country. Program staff can assist you in finding accommodation near your job, and staff at your new position can also be helpful.  You can save money by sharing an apartment.

How will teachers travel from their accommodation to their school or job location?

Ideally, you can find housing within walking distance of the job. If not, you will be able to take public transport to work.

What is the likelihood of other teachers being in the same accommodation?

This totally depends on the job you decide to take, if you traveled to Italy with friends and where you decide to live.

Can I bring pets?

No!

Why Is There A Placement Fee?

First of all it is illegal to work in Italy without a valid visa.  This can be a student visa or work visa.  To qualify for your visa, you need to take the TEFL course.  Your fee includes the month of course work for your TEFL certificate, and all of the pre-departure work it takes to take in your application, get it to Florence, and interview you for available jobs.

At GeoVisions, we have pre-screened the position and in a few cases, we have placed people in those jobs before. We make sure you’re being paid the highest amount possible. We provide a formal orientation.  You will meet other teachers just like you the day you arrive. We help you with your visa, your formal documents and we make sure your new job is ready to receive you.

Will Schools Hire Teachers That Are Age 50 Or Older?

Most schools do not impose age restrictions, but there may be a subtle age bias towards younger teachers. However, if you are active, vibrant, energetic and a creative educator who loves being around young people, you will be able to secure a job. A few countries do impose age restrictions set by the government for issuing work visas, but most do not.

What is the accreditation of the TEFL course?

This course is now endorsed and accredited by the Learning Resources Network (LRN) in the UK. LRN has reviewed both the content and delivery of the course and has judged it to meet their stringent standards.

LRN is recognized as an awarding body by OFQUAL, The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, which regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland.
